College Alaska Booking Reports

College booking reports track arrests and custody events in this census-designated place just south of Fairbanks. The CDP sits in the Fairbanks North Star Borough and is served by the Fairbanks Police Department, North Pole Police Department, and Alaska State Troopers. Because College has no standalone police force, booking records flow through these three agencies and end up at the Fairbanks Correctional Center. You can search College booking reports through CourtView, VINElink, the DPS background check portal, and the daily trooper dispatch log. Most of these tools are free and run around the clock.

College Booking Reports and Law Enforcement

College is an unincorporated CDP. It does not have its own police department. Law enforcement falls to three agencies that split coverage across the Fairbanks North Star Borough. The Fairbanks Police Department handles calls in and near the city core. The North Pole Police Department covers the North Pole area east of College. Alaska State Troopers pick up everything outside city limits, which includes most of the CDP itself.

When any of these agencies makes an arrest in College, the person goes to the Fairbanks Correctional Center at 1931 Eagan Avenue, Fairbanks, AK 99701. The main phone line is (907) 458-6700. This jail serves the entire borough and parts of Interior Alaska. Booking at the facility includes fingerprinting, a photo, and logging the charges into the Alaska Public Safety Information Network. That data feeds into CourtView and VINElink within hours in most cases.

The University of Alaska Fairbanks campus sits inside the College CDP. Campus police handle calls on university grounds, but serious crimes get handed off to Fairbanks PD or Troopers. Arrests that start on campus still end up at the same correctional center.

Note: College has no local jail or holding cells, so all bookings route to the Fairbanks Correctional Center on Eagan Avenue.

CourtView for College Booking Records

CourtView is the Alaska Court System's online case search tool. It covers every court in the state, including the Fairbanks Superior Court and District Court that handle College area cases. You can search by name, case number, or citation number. The tool is free.

The system pulls up criminal case filings, charge details, hearing dates, and case outcomes. A CourtView search is not a formal background check. It shows court activity tied to a name, but it may miss cases filed under an alias or a different spelling. Still, for a quick look at whether someone was booked and charged in the College area, CourtView works well. You can access it at the CourtView online portal.

The screenshot above shows the CourtView home page. Pick the name search tab, type in a first and last name, and set the case type to criminal if you want booking-related results only. Results come back fast.

Some records get pulled from CourtView after a set time. If the person was acquitted on all charges or every charge was dropped without a plea deal, the court removes the listing after 60 days. Domestic violence protective orders and juvenile records never show up. Under AS 22.35.040, certain low-level marijuana cases filed after January 2024 also get taken off the public site.

VINElink Inmate Search for College

VINElink is the state's inmate notification system. It runs 24 hours a day. You can search by name or by the Alaska Department of Corrections ID number. Results show custody status, facility name, sentence length, and a photo if one is on file. The tool covers all 13 state correctional centers and 27 jails.

For College booking reports, a VINElink search will show anyone held at the Fairbanks Correctional Center. You can also sign up for alerts. The system will call, text, or email you when an inmate moves, gets released, or has a parole hearing. This is useful if you need to track someone booked after an arrest in the College area. Start your search at the VINElink Alaska page.

The VINElink search page lets you enter a partial name using just the first two letters of the last name. This pulls up a wider set of results, which helps when you are not sure of the exact spelling.

Alaska runs a unified jail system. That means the same person can sit in the same cell as a pretrial detainee and later as a sentenced inmate. A VINElink record may shift from "in custody awaiting trial" to "serving sentence" without a transfer. Keep that in mind when you read the status field.

DPS Background Checks in College

The Alaska Department of Public Safety runs a background check portal for anyone who wants a formal criminal history report. Under AS 12.62.160, any person can request Alaska criminal justice information. The law does not limit who can ask or why.

Two options exist. A name-based search costs $20. A fingerprint-based search costs $35 and uses a standard FD-258 FBI fingerprint card. The fingerprint route catches records filed under aliases or other names, so it is more thorough. You can submit a name-based request online. Mail requests go to 5700 East Tudor Road, Anchorage, AK 99507. The phone number is (907) 269-5767.

For College residents, the closest DPS office for in-person requests is at 1979 Peger Road in Fairbanks. You can drop off forms and get fingerprinted there. Results come back by mail or fax. Extra copies cost $5 if you order them at the same time as the original. A second request at a later date runs another $20.

The report covers adult arrests and convictions, both misdemeanors and felonies. It includes dismissed cases and not guilty findings. Infractions, violations, and juvenile offenses are not listed.

Note: Fingerprint-based checks are more accurate than name searches because they catch records filed under different names or aliases.

College Area Trooper Reports

Alaska State Troopers post daily dispatch reports online. Each entry has an incident number, location, type, and a short summary of what happened. The feed covers all of Interior Alaska, including College. You can filter by date to find recent arrests or warrant pickups in the CDP.

Trooper dispatches show up fast, often the same day. The press releases name the trooper who filed the report and note that all suspects are presumed innocent. For College specifically, look for entries from A Detachment, which covers Southcentral and Interior Alaska from a base in the Fairbanks area. Check the Troopers Daily Dispatch for the latest reports.

The active warrants list is another useful tool. The Alaska State Troopers publish a daily list of people with outstanding warrants. It shows first name, last name, age, and gender. You can grab the list as a CSV or PDF file. Anyone on the list can turn themselves in at any trooper post or police station. If you spot a name tied to College, the warrant was likely issued by the Fairbanks court. The warrant list sits at hotsheets.dps.alaska.gov.

College Booking Reports and Alaska Law

The Alaska Public Records Act, AS 40.25.110 through AS 40.25.220, gives you the right to ask for booking data. The law covers all government records, including arrest logs and booking sheets held by police agencies serving College. If a clerk turns down your request, you can push back under the same statute. The Department of Law APRA page lays out the full text.

There are limits. AS 40.25.120 lists the kinds of records that agencies can hold back. Law enforcement files that could hurt a pending case or reveal a confidential source may be withheld. Victim names get blocked too. Juvenile records are sealed. Under AS 12.62.160, criminal justice information can be shared for almost any purpose, but non-conviction data has some extra rules.

Some things you can expect to find in a College area booking report:

  • Full name, date of birth, and physical description of the person booked
  • Charges and statute codes at the time of arrest
  • Arresting agency and officer name
  • Date and time of booking at Fairbanks Correctional
  • Bail amount set by the court

The sex offender registry is another public tool tied to booking data. Under AS 18.65.087, the Department of Public Safety keeps a list of people required to register after certain convictions. You can search by name, zip code, or city at sor.dps.alaska.gov. College falls under the Fairbanks zip codes, so results will overlap with the broader area.

Fairbanks Court and College Cases

The Fairbanks Superior Court and District Court handle all criminal cases from College. The courthouse sits at 101 Lacey Street, Fairbanks, AK 99701. You can call the clerk at (907) 452-9277. Walk-in record requests go through the clerk's office during business hours.

Criminal charges filed daily across Alaska show up in a PDF report from the court system. The document lists case numbers, defendant names, charges with statute codes, and the filing date. It is sorted by court location. Fairbanks entries will include College cases. The court also posts scheduled hearings and calendars online at the court public access portal.

For felony cases, you go to Superior Court. Misdemeanors and small claims go to District Court. Both feed into CourtView, so an online search will catch either level. If you need a certified copy of a court record, the clerk charges a small fee per page.

Note: Walk-in requests at the Fairbanks courthouse may take longer during high-volume weeks, so call ahead to check wait times.
